Do you ever find yourself asking what to do this weekend? Or what things there are to do over the weekend?

It’s the age-old question we find ourselves asking each week, sometimes as early as Monday morning!

But it’s not a question to be ashamed of. Weekends are where most of us can finally take a breather, spend time with friends and loved ones, and rejuvenate before another hectic week of work meetings, deadlines, irritating bosses, and everything we dread about on Mondays.

We’ve been there ourselves one too many times and that’s why today we’d like to suggest a few creative ideas to do on the weekend that we would dare say are “life-changing”.

Hopefully by the end of the article, you’ll understand why.

Here are some out-of-the-box ideas for things to do on the weekend.

1. Work on a side hustle

While this may sound immediately counterintuitive, given that most of us don’t want to work more on the weekends, working on a side hustle doesn’t need to feel like work.

The truth is, most of us have some innate desire to create something. It’s wired in our brains. We are creative beings that feel a sense of accomplishment when we see our creativity come to fruition.

If you’ve ever spent a weekend just binging on Netflix and “not doing anything”, you would know that feeling of “what did I just spend all my time doing?”. Not that we can’t relax over some Netflix. But too much mindlessness actually makes us more drained. And it’s because we’re not allowing our creative minds to flourish in how it was designed.

There’s no boss, there’s no deadlines. It’s just you and whatever you allow your creative mind to explore and build. The extra income that comes whenever your idea comes to life is just the bonus.

2. Go out on a Date with yourself.

This one sounded pretty lame when I first heard about it. But then I tried it. And it was life-changing.

While we’re all wired differently when it comes to interpersonal social interactions, going out on a date by ourselves (whether you’re single or not), helps us find inspiration and refreshment by doing the things we truly love.

Date yourself ideas can be simple. Some find inspiration by getting away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and spending some time in nature. Some find refreshment in taking a long walk in the park or going out for a run. Some just prefer to sit and read in a cafe or even just sit in the backyard and soak up some sun. Find what you really love doing and do it!

Couple the activity with your favorite food or meal, and it’ll be hard to regret the date you went on by yourself.

3. Spend time with people.

This one is almost the opposite of the previous idea but equally as important. And invaluable for even the introverts.

Sometimes the best thing to do over the weekend is talk with your friends and loved ones.

On one hand, we get to love those around us by listening in on how they’re doing and vice versa. We get to share our troubles at work, burdens at home, and things on our mind that weren’t intended for us to battle alone.

But more than just the mental & emotional support, we also gain new perspectives and ideas we may not have ever thought of before. Every person has a story, experiences, and perspective that makes this world so diverse and beautiful in its diversity. You never know where you might find your next great idea and inspiration.

4. Do a Virtual Run

Okay, this one might be a little biased, but it’s one we really believe in ourselves.

First, what is a virtual run?

Virtual runs are running events where people can sign-up for a 5K, 10K, or Half-Marathon. They can run anytime and anywhere, submit their results to be posted, and get a shirt, medal, and swag mailed directly to them.

An immediate question you might ask is why do a virtual run and not just go out for a run?

Even if you don’t care much about the shirt, medal, and swag, a virtual run gives you a goal to work towards and then a community and motivation to see it through.

The truth is you can do or learn anything on your own, especially in this age where so much information is available for free online. But the reason why people pay thousands of dollars for a coach, trainer, or mentor is because encouragement and accountability is what really helps you achieve your goals.

When you sign-up for a virtual run, you’re setting yourself a goal and then you’re held accountable to it by the organizer. The immediate reward is the shirt, medal, or giveaway. But the real prize is accomplishing a small goal. And small goals and wins is what builds onto bigger and bigger goals until you achieve what you really want in life.
